The (3) rivets in the pressure plate of my RPS 3200 spin, and I wanted to know if that was normal?

Normal as far as im aware. I have almost 8k miles on mine and they spin. I think they just keep the 2 plates from spinning like on some Spec clutches.

Well the reason I make the thread: Seems some older PP's didn't have them at all, then some did... then some had them and were welded.

I just don't know if I should weld them, or leave them.

You're having good luck with yours so far? That's good to hear. :)

anyways, they look like they are bolts that are welded on the top... I don't think you'd be able to weld directly to the diaphram spring without majorly screwing up the heat treating on it...

Leave them. I have had many issues with RPS. They put those rivets in to resolve a problem that they wont own up to, but as you can see did make an attempt to fix. The diaphragms shift on a hard launch and knock it out of balance. I've done it to 3 of them.

I know all about your horror stories with RPS, and I really value your opinion about them. This is kind of a first and last faith in RPS to see if this clutch/pressure plate will work out.

I'm also aware of the list you're keeping of all the RPS failures and their users, so I hope I don't make it on there.

But we'll find out. :)

We finished the clutch this weekend.
Everything so far is fine, and got about 140 miles city to break in, another 360 or so to go.

Anyway, here are some pics of the weekend:

BIG thanks goes to Pat for letting us use his garage!

Be careful ordering throw-out bearings from NAPA, you might get an NA one.

Best to get a Toyota one.

Drop and clean the tranny:

I noticed a small vibration in my car after some drag strip action. It seemed to be a slight vibration at around 1500 to 2k rpms or so. I don't remember feeling this prior to the drag strip. I wonder if my RPS have shifted. I wasn't hard on the clutch, just rode it off the line. Little to no wheel spin.

Also.... I did pull a 12.9 @ 116 with a 2.4 60' and 20 psi on pump. Then I lost 3rd and 4th on the last run. Either broke or bent a shift fork. :( Rebuild coming within the month.

Sooooo my pressure plate has shifted.

This was after ONE 4k rpm feather the clutch on street tires launch. Hell I pulled a 2.4 60' time. I could feel the vibration at low rpms. I'm told you can feel it during cruising mostly.

I really hope RPS takes care of me considering I have one of their $2k headers. We... shall... see.....
