Hey IJ, good to see you. Yes, a little bit of a typo. Just a simple gizmo I made to install the oil shaft bearings. Works real good.

Plastic. It just centers the tool shaft in the front hole when installing the rear bearing. It will slide up and down the shaft.

Hey Rich! I see it's been awhile since you've updated here... so I though I'd give this thread a "bump" as I JUST read it for the first time! Suspect you are busy, but these types of pics and commentary are really neat for those of us that DON'T delve into the deeper recesses of these machines! Since we usually rely on the "reputation" or "word of mouth" regarding the type of work you are SHOWING, it's highly informative to actually SEE this work in progress! I'm sure I speak for other prospective users that need engine work, and I'm still strategically planning WHEN and HOW I will approach MY bottom end build... which will definitely start with a drive up your way to pop in and meet sometime!

Hope things are well at your end. I'm pretty sure we'll be talking within the next season or two on my next steps!;)

Hey Chris, long time no talk! Stop by anytime! You can check out my 96 Buell S2. I know how you like the rare and weird bikes. I was starting to think about closing this thread. I did not think I was getting much traffic with it and was wasting my time. Can not justify stopping now that I have the Crisp action going!

We won't let you rest, Rich!:biglaugh:

Looking forward to that trip. If I'm up around Cleveland/Cuyahoga area to see relatives sometime, I'll see if I can loop over to your place too.;)

Back to posting some pics for the few who want to see them. Finally got some time to load some more pics to the bucket.

Got all the plugs out and blew them out with air. Not much of anything in there anyway.

p1721409_1.jpg

All clean and ready to go.

p1721409_2.jpg

I always take a punch and re-set the pinch on the plugs so they don't back out.

p1721409_3.jpg

Now back to the block, oil squirts in, main studs in

p1721409_4.jpg

Main bearings in and a little assembly lube rubbed onto the bearing surface

p1721409_5.jpg

bearings installed into the main caps, little lube too.

p1721409_6.jpg

Grease the main cap with the thrust washer so the thrust washer does not fall off when installing the crank.

p1721409_7.jpg

Crank is now set in

p1721409_8.jpg

More later

Look what the Mac tool guy brought to me. Needed some new bling in the garage, and the old torque wrenches had a real hard time passing calibration.

Coming soon!

So since we are on the pink panther, should I hire a guy to attack me everytime I try to use these? :)
