After talking to several Club members and both Wryann and Phillip at VIP Performance, I've decided to make the following major modifications to the cabin: the driving position needs to be moved back four inches, and a little more toward the center. Also, get a longer steering column, deeper dish steering wheel, extend the gear shift lever back and move the peddles back too. The next item would be to move a fuel cell to where the back seats are in the cabin. I'll need to start planning now and implementing this next year.

Here in Australia the v8 super-cars runs the similar setup they've mentioned. They only recently made the change this year moving the engine more further back in engine bay (sits half way now), moving seats, peddles and steering wheel further back and moving the tank from the rear to the back seats as there was a explosion incident where one of the drivers stalled the car at start off and got re-ended and flames started happening. While providing better center of gravity also gives better safety.

(might get these pics removed soon before I get sued :3)

If I could afford to move the engine and tyranny back so that the front of the engine was even with the shock towers, then I'd be happier with the handling in the car. The downside would be getting to the back of the engine to work on it... That would be a time suck and costly too!

Yeah, these engines only stay in for one race and they slide out forward during removal unlike ours ;P.

Wouldn't be cost and time effective for your car indeed.

Love that :-D

Duraflex also makes wings I think.
Oh, I didn't know that... Carbon?

The crew at VIP hadn't started on the poly carbonate windows as they needed me to get time off from work to see what it was they had in mind for the window treatment. We decided to go with .128 inch poly carbonate sheet and adhere it as Toyota had the glass, using all the new trim strips and fasteners I purchased from Toyota. We will add a center support to the poly carbonate sheet, keep it from blowing out. By the way, I have the last quarter window trim in USA.
Fabricating the bumpers from chrome-molly as well as the cross members, is being done to keep me extra safe and reduce cost. Adding quick release fittings for the front bumper cover so when the car needs towing, the cover can be easily removed. Fabricating an engine under cover and splitter, attached with quick release fasteners. Hood pins to secure to the carbon fiber hood. Modifying the fenders to let out air that traps in the fender and helps keep that air from getting under it. Hooking up the coolant surge tank and lastly, install the new brake rotors F&R and side skirts.

We're going with black polycarbonate sheet for the engine undercover. The bumper cover supports will allow the engine under cover to attach to it as will the aluminum splitter.

Here are a few pictures: The first set is of the bumper spindle that the bumper will get welded to. Those spindles fit inside the former place occupied by the stock bumper mounts. This system will allow a mechanic to remove the entire bumper, after the engine under cover quarter turn buttons are released, by pulling out the two bolts and nuts. photo 1 (1).jpgphoto 2 (3).jpgphoto 3 (1).jpg
Seems the rear bumper weighs in at 33lbs...

At this time, we're just doing the engine under cover in polycarbonate. I hadn't considered a full body under tray. With all the mods planned in the budget, I can't afford more aero, at this time. I'm on the look out for a used rear diffuser though... With a planned install after the first of the year. On the Shine Auto Project web site, there is a MK4 diffuser that I may consider using.

86_supragtconceptfenders3.jpgI bought a pair of these, and I plan to have glass work done by a known body shop in Portland, to cover the top vent hole. Aesthetically, it just doesn't appeal to me to have a vent too close to the top fender line.
