How hard would it be to just upgrade your R154 using the MC componants and just doing it yourself? It looks like most the parts they have in the Race R154 can be had from Driftmotion as well.

What about at a lower power level (ok i ask as a side note im looking to try and push 700 max from a 2JZ on a R154) the componants listed on there could be had for not even half the cost as buying the 2000.00 Race R154....is it really difficult to rebuild them or something to explain the 1000+ in labor etc etc not to include however much it would cost to have your tranny removed/shipped etc.

Not difficult, but you're paying for their experience and the warranty... You could get it rebuilt cheaper somewhere else, but I doubt they'd stand by it under that abuse.

+1, for all we know people will still break the transmission so they're pricing it that high to discourage most people from buying it. Looking at the pricing, it is double the cost of all the other rebuilds they offer.

The reinforced parts are a must, but I still believe that the intended use of the transmission is most important. Planning on drag racing? You should probably look for something else. Regular driving and the occasional highway pull? You might be ok.

k time for an update... i'm upgrading to a os giken tripple coming in from japan. Expensive but will hold the power no problem. Next i will reinstall the same trans and in the meantime i will upgrade my spare. I want to see what breaks on an upgraded r154 ,as i can never get to see or speak to someone who has broken an upgraded one to see exactly what breaks. Last i drove the car it was setup for a low boost of 30psi on the gate spring lol. Left it at that level for a month just could not bring myself to turn the boost down after leaving the dyno.

yeah about half but i wanted the mileage for daily driving also it is fully rebuildable by me, no need to send it out i also don't think a clutch is worth this kind of money so i would never pay double

A thousand horse daily driver? If you are going that far on power, why not step up and do the needed fabrication for a heavy duty trans? Like a T56 or better yet, a built THM 350?
