Nice, You going to get it???

I actually looked at that cuz i wanted to see exactly how many were for sale in the U.S. Only 2 pages of them. I didn't like them originally. But they have grown on me and now I want one which is also another reason I was looking to see if they have one in my area. Unfortunately there were none. I'll keep lookin tho. :biglaugh:

1st, the hood and headlights dont' line up right...

2nd..those wheels are completely the wrong offset for that car...he tried to hide it by turning the front wheels but if they were straight you'd seem them sticking out past the flares up front.

its also an 83 with the 84 hatch/spoiler

Wow, the body is not too bad, but it's a frankenstein from hell.

not only do the wheels look HORRIBLE, but WTF is going on with those seats??

the car has an 84+ nose, 84+ hatch, 83 tails, 83 steering wheel and 85mph speedo...

car is quite a hack job IMO. I hope someone rescues it and makes it more like a Supra and less like a ghettomobile!

I mean I have an '83 that's a frankenstein too, but I'm inconspicuous about it. 130 speedo, 85+ center console, 84+ engine, 85 ECU and wiring harness. Still looks like an '83 from the outside anyway, heh

The Toyota badge in the grill is like way out there, not all the way to the left or right, and isn't centered. I have a feeling this car was probably wrecked at one point, and pieced back together from a junkyard, repainted and then sold or traded in.

Nobody should ever get upset about parts from the wrong years being on a car, unless it's ugly in a bad way.

My 88 has a year identity problem, and nobody better say anything about it! :p

Look at my POS 82...
I doubt any parts from the original car are even still on it.

Take what you like from different years and combine them and make the best that you can. That was my moto, so what someone on CS.com is going to tell you that your hatch/wing are off of a different year, your rear bumper isn't right, your tails aren't original, or your interior is out of a Celica? They can SMB, go get yourself a $120 shift boot or something. :biglaugh: Thats just my thoughts on it.

me and tanya weren't saying it was a horrible car, just pointing out the maybe not so obvious parts that a novice mk2 buyer might not realize until its too late.

exactly. if some "newbie" is wanting to buy an all original car, and hasn't done his/her research, an ad such as this is deceiving. it would take a lot of work/money to get it back to "purist" conditions. if someone likes the way the car looks, that's fine and dandy, more power to them.

if I were to sell my car, how foolish would it be for me to not mention the engine was from an 84? or the electronics for an 85? someone would order a 1983 alternator or 83 TPS and it would not work and it would cause a lot of headaches for the new owner. who knows if the car in the ad has the original engine and electronics? if someone took the time to change the nose, interior and hatch, there could be under-hood changes as well that could cause issues later on.

and yes, the sig can be blamed on me, lol. i warned him about the file size though :biglaugh:

^ Tanya, it's a friggin mkII... when DON'T you get headaches from the damn thing when it comes to parts? :icon_bigg

Hell my all original 84 took 2-3 tries to get an alt for the stupid thing. Little headaches should add humor to the car while you're working on it... I mean seriously, so you need to switch plugs or change a pulley, whats the big deal? Hell, money says my 82 doesnt even have a plug on the alt, I bet I have wires sticking into the back of the alt. :nono:

I guess I just dont understand the whole "purist" thing. Maybe I don't have enough money to worry about it. Maybe I'm not picky enough. Hell, I know what it is, I don't do enough research, Jeff said it best...

mkiisupraman and tanya..have you noticed that at auto parts store if a part is looked up for a supra it lists only one brand and is usually more expensive then if you look up the same part for a cressida i.e. Temp Sending Unit for a supra gives you a Beck Arnley part for 21 dollars, a cressie gives you a gp sorenson 15.48 part AND the Beck Arnley part....

just something to think about next time you're at the parts counter.
