How can I tail if the tail lights off of my 1990 toyota supra are the kouki type of lights? Also are there different shades of red or are they all the dark cherry color?

Unsure what you mean by "Kouki" But USDM taillights are different then JDM taillights, the JDM tails are darker.

Only difference in taillights that i know of.

Obvioulsy the difference would be clear if i could compare the colors. I know that the JDM's are darker, but when I have nothing to compare them too ( I obviously don't have two sets of tail-lights), it is hard for me to tell. So i am asking if there are any part numbers on the casing or other differences that would confirm which set I have...besides the color difference.

yeah yeah?

The kouki tail lights are the ones that come on the 89-92. Zenki tail lights would be on the 86-88 models.
As it has already been mentioned, the JDM kouki lights are shaded darker than the USDM ones.

Zenki means first, kouki means last, chuki is middle...

1986.5-1988 = Zenki
1989/1990 = Chuki
1991/1992 = Kouki

JDM 1989-1992 tails are darker and all 3 pieces match, USDM tails are two different shades of red and are lighter...

Euro Supras only got the zenki taillights due to the long license plates, but received pretty much every other update and some things we never got (rear fogs, headlight levels, etc)

Nah, even the JDM ones don't match perfectly out in the sun, it's the nature of how the center section is (back is painted).

The JDM and USDM lenses are the exact same, it's the diffusers inside that are tinted on the JDM to make them darker. The center section is painted a more gunmetal color on the back instead of bright silver like on the USDM version.

Easily rectified as well... (these aren't JDM tails)

yup, in the sun JDM's don't match, but they're definitely noticeable when next to USDMs, which are different color, even in the shade..

heres a pic of my 86.5 with USDM's and my 89 with JDM's (old pic)...
