Has anyone done a hydraulic throwout conversion? I am looking into this for reliability issues, and because the stock system looks so fragile and keeps failing on me. The snap ring popped off again after another clutch job. I figure it would be cheaper and more reliable to do a hydralic conversion then having to replace the slave, fork, retainers and supports.

I've sorta done it.

All it takes is the front bearing retainer and slave from a pontiac solstice. It bolts on! You then need to adapt your clutch line and find a pressure plate as IJ mentioned. The simplicity is nice, but make sure you have it spaced properly or you'll be pulling your trans to adjust the slave. That part isn't simple.

The benefit of doing this? I've never looked into it much to be honest. The Spec multi-disc clutches for our cars really don't seem all that pricey, at least compared to OS or Tilton anyway...
