Going 1JZ...

I've finally decided what i'm going to do with my £1000. After having a mechanic friend of mine check the car over for me, and been given the 'good to go', i've decided that rather than going for a touch up and a little rust repair (which apparrently is only mild bubbling at worst), i'm going to invest in a 1JZ. Granted, this is going to take a lot of work, but it'll be worth it. I'll keep the 7M-GE around though, have a fiddle with it and whatnot, but the 1JZ is too tempting an offer to pass up.

As i mentioned in my previous post, driftmotion have engines and front clips available with 1JZ-GTE's in, loom and all. I'm going to try and see what TDX have here in the UK, as well as any other dismantlers/suppliers and get the best price i can. Obviously it's going for at the very least a top end rebuild, just want to get my hands on one!

Thanks to whoever it was that supplied me with the info about the BIC 1JZ mounts, that's going to save me a whole hell of a lot of hassle!

If anyone thats done the swap has any tips, would be appreciated, likewise any info as to sources of parts in the UK, or places that would ship to the UK.

Cheers and TIA :)

you're trying to do a 1j swap with 1000 quid? or did i read that wrong, because it's impossible to do it with that little money.

1000 quid is like 2000 USD. And its a lot easier to get 1j pars in the UK as the car was offered there. Possible

JZA70s were only sold new in Japan. I'm aware of the exchange rate, and it's not enough to do a 1jz swap.

$1900 isnt enough on its own, but i've decided not to spend the other £1000 i had bookmarked, on building a new PC, and put that towards the supra as well, which brings the total amount in U$D to $3800, which is easily enough to get the engine, box, loom and ancillaries, at least based on the pricing up i've done from places like driftmotion and jarco.

I decided not to upgrade yet, mainly cause the K8L isnt out yet and Core2Duo's are rarer than rocking horse poop, so i'll do it after christmas.

Besides, it's about time i stopped upgrading the computer every 4 months! :D

Lol - it is now!

I dont have as much time for games now as i used to, and having an Opteron Rig with a GeForce 7600GT will see me through until after christmas. Then again, Crysis comes out in a month or two, and my willpower may crumble :D

No. After your 'Cletus' branding, i thought 'why bother even trying, obviously i'm going to catch nothing but flak'. So i thought of other ways to invest my money.

Are you trying to make us believe that IJ actually made fun of you? I won't believe it for a minute. IJ doesn't have a sense of humor. You must have him mixed up with someone else....................;)

Well it seemed like a personal 'dig' at me for having an idea. However, the idea wasn't just to get out a drill and a jigsaw to make a hole to fit a whipple in, it was going to be done by professionals....with...erm...drills and jigsaw's.

I'll leave supercharging to non-supra applications and stick with the run-of-the mill 1JZ swap. I still get more power and more kudos with this.

Kai.............:3d_frown:

IJ is one of the most helpful people on here. Sure his sense of humor is warped, but he lives with animals that hop and carry their young in a freaking sack...................:biglaugh:

I'll have to go back and read the tread and see this Cletus picture........lol
