First, I have tried searching for this, Ive had no luck. Maybe I am using the wrong search terms.
But heres the deal. I have 2 GTE motors:
the one in the car now knocks like crazy.... I mean bad.
The spare I gained with the car has a bent rod on the #1 cyl.
(have no clue how the 1 rod could have gotten bent)
Im not sure I want to use either block as the one in the car has a spun bearing and Im sure metal bits have been circulated all throughout the motor. The one with a bent rod im really unsure on.
So the questions are
1. Are GE motors the same minus the pistons and/or rods? How about the heads. Does a GE have oil squirters?
2. Do you think one of my motors would be okay with a GE crank and machine work to clean them all up?
Since this is going to be a forged build vs. just a rebuild Im leaning towards the GE block, and ripping its guts out.
Thank you ahead of time for any input on this, Just trying to find a good starting point with this build and im usually a bit sketchy of using motors that have had bearing failures for the fear of other journals getting messed up due to it.
Im sure Ive missed some info, here so if I did please ask, and I will answer what I know or think I know
