Fuel Pump doesn't prime in START position

I use a switch that goes directly from the battery to the starter because my wiring is bad at the ignition.

Since installing the switch I always start the car like this (when it is cold). I turn the key to START for a few seconds to run the pump. Or else there isnt enough fuel to start the car.

Now suddenly the pump does not come on when I crank it. Why would this happen? Now it takes me 3 tries to get the car to finally run because there isnt enough fuel pressure when it is cold.

What should I do?

Or if you want you could rig it up even more and jump B+ to FP (I think thats it) with another switch.

What you SHOULD do is fix your wiring.

I wont have money for a few years. If the car keeps getting worse ill just be storing it. I have to do the HG for a second time this fall so i wont have to worry for a while. Thanks. I just found it wierd that all of a sudden it stopped doing it.

you are right. But I bypassed the starter with a switch so the started doesnt go when i turn the ignition. But the fuel pump still does. Well it did.

Im going to look through my shop manual wiring diagrams today.

The stock wiring is in tact. I ran my own harness from the battery to the starter for the switch. I have never messed with the wiring. This stuff is failing on its own this year. I thought maybe there might be another explanation but i guess its a coincedence that both wires have gone bad at the same time.
