Car looks great by the way, always liked the weld wheels,A timeless classic IMO.

Thanks man!!! I really like them, they make my car almost look like a domestic! It's nice to have them turn their heads for a second glance and they give me a thumbs up.

No nothing needed to be done with the brakes, they bolt right up. Mine have a 5" back space, if I had the 5.5" it would not clear my shock. Right now I only have about 1/2" between the tire and the shock. Because these tires are so wide they rub a little. If I had the 275/60 they are actually not as wide by about an 1" I've seen them side by side at Speedtek and they are a little taller than the 275/50's that I have.

We do not have the same fitment as the MK4's, they have more room under their wheel well.

i know we dont have the same fitment but im pretty sure we also use a 5.5" bs but i wont argue with ya you've got the wheels i dont, as for me ill be useing 16x8" conquest wheels with 255/50/16 bfg drag radials ill be picking up them this weekend hopefully.

zazzan,
ive got the exact same wheels on my mk3 only chrome, 17x9 up front and 17x10.5 in rear, rear needs to be shaved down about 2mm to fit properly but they were free and i like the look so i dont mind.

So im looking for a set of 15x8 wheels with a 5.5" backspace but cant find anything, the most i've found only have a 4.5" bs...my question is, would a 4.5" work? would it stick out a lot? or why do most ppl use 5 - 5.5" on the mk3(offset noob sry)? thanks.

Dunn, the weld draglites come with 5.5" bs. 4.5" will net you some tire rub in most cases. 5-5.5" is much preferred.

Look at my first post these are what I have:

These are nice as well:

These are nice and cheap, just heard of them bending:

Also look on your local Mustang or Domestic site and see if anyone is selling wheels and tires. That's how I got mine, you will find them all over the place on there and cheap. The Mustangs have the same bolt pattern that we do, GM vehicles do not!! So no setups off a Camaro, Vetter or TA!

Here is mine, crappy cell picture. Any way, just front runner that use on my camaro. There not mounted just rolled them in front of exsisting wheels that on the car, so I can get the idea of how they will look. Soon to get matching backs, Greg Weld 15x8 with 5.5 back spacing with 275/60 MT drag radial. The Greg Welds are uni-lug.

I will prob finish pulling out the interior this weekend so I can get started working on the cage in a couple weeks from now.

Great looking wheels Slow!!

If I buy another set of wheels, they will be the Greg Welds because I like the way the spokes are and they are much thinner than the Welds that I have. I'd like to get a set of them and powdercoat the spokes black. I think if I did that with the wheels I have now it would look funky.

has ne1 here used a 4.75" bs or know if there would be rubbing issues with that?

They may stick out a little bit. I'm going to go and measure mine real quick and see what mine are for sure. But I believe they are 5.5" back spacing

Anyone running a 10.5" wide slick on an mk3? Just wondering what the tallest/widest tire you could cram under the chassis with alittle fender rolling.

You could do a 28x10.5x15 et street would be easier to fit than a 28x10.5x15 Et Drag because they are wider. But that is probably the biggest you could get with stock suspension and rolled fenders.

I run a 26x10.5 ET Street and hooked decent on my old set-up. A few guys run this tire in the 9's. You could go bigger (27) like Tun_x did aka Jason but I think his car is almost stock height.

Id like to try and fit something alittle taller in there if i can. Idealy id like to get a 28x10.5w mt et street in there. Id probably settle for a 27" tall though if it would fit.

What kind of offset are you using with the 26x10.5's ? Did you just roll the fender, or did you have to pull it slightly as well?

Why bother putting a 27 or more on when u don't need it?

I run the new Weld wheels, 17 X 4.5 up front. The rears, I am using the saw blades for now as the rear wheels were not finished (custom made since they are a new design by Weld) I do however have rolled fenders front and rear but not needed for the rear.

Reason i want to go with a larger tire is because im using a powerglide trans. With the limited selection of gearing in the diff, the larger the tire i can cram in there, the lower the rpm will be going through the traps. Right now im afraid ill be going through at over 8K rpm in the 1/4.

Would a 275/50/15 26X11.5 15 mt et Street radial on a 15X8 5.5 BS rub?
It is just as tall as my 275/40/17 nitto's on 17X9.5 +50 mk4 TT rims.
My mk4 rims slighlty rubbed my stock suspension. The tire fits pretty close to the springs seat. the new rims would have 44 mm more innerclearance but extend 6 mm further out. My car is slighlty lowered with eibach springs but the rear is gutted so the change is pretty minimal.
I've worked the numbers over and over online and everything seems to work. just wanted a second opion from someone with more knowledge.
Thanks.
