Finally got my BBK installation complete. Thanks to Doward for nice front BBK, a little grinding on the front spindles but otherwise a good fit. MKIVs on the rear. Driftmotion brake lines up front, StopTech Lexus LS400 lines in the rear, Porterfield R4 pads all around, Motul 600 DOT 4 fluid. It will be next year before I get to try them on the track but anticipation is high of faster lap times.

How close and is it worth it.......

it depends if you have a front brake kit or not. for me, definitely worth it.

you need to machine new threaded caliper inserts (4) and centreing rings for the rotors.

The MKIV rear brakes are almost bolt-on. Two modifications needed:

1. Drill out the caliper bracket mounting holes to hold a M12 bolt
2. Shim the MKIV rotors with a strip of sheet metal

Both of these are very easy to do. A link to a good write-up of the modification is at: http://4cefed.com/mkivbrakes.html

Great job. Where did you get the Supra script for the calipers ? What paint did you use on them ?

Mark D

Supra scripts were from eBay, do a search on supra brake decals.

Paint was Duplicolor enamel caliper paint kit.

Is that a brake duct in the second picture?

Yes brake ducts on the front rotors. Pic below shows front of car with duct openings. Two on passenger side are for brake rotor and power steering cooler, opening on drivers fog light area is for oil cooler. Other brake rotor duct is hard to see, its black and where the stock PS cooler would be located.

I dont suppose we have any motor trend numbers?
(like a 60-0 distance?) Or better yet geneal impressions.

Nope, only driven to bed the pads. Initial impression is pedal feel is good, close to stock. I was worried that pedal travel would be too long with the new multi-piston calipers but it feels good.

As to braking power, that will have to wait until next spring at the track.

you can also use mkIV hub's,instead of the shim's for the rotor's.it will make the rotor hub centric and place the rotor evenly between the pad's.
the cleaned up one on the right is from the mkIV

While there are people who have drilled the rear tabs with success, you are asking for problems drilling into a casting, especially when you leave less material and increase the braking force on the tabs.
