I have 272s and a 61mm with the .86 hot side in my 1j. it is a great driver with plenty of power for cruising around town.
Good to hear. Unfortunately, you kinda need boost or a decent amount of displacement to get around at this altitude.

Haha, I say that's more a combination of a rough idle and solid mounts if you ask me... mine will rock to the side if you rev hard and fast in neutral. :p

Edit: It has so much torque, that it twisted the frame coming off the line the first time we drove it...

Imo the 1jz is better the then 2jz
With an 8.5:1 static compression ratio, the factory quoted power and torque outputs are 280 metric horsepower (210 kW) at 6200 rpm and 363 newton metres (268 lbf·ft) at 4800 rpm respectively. When the 2jz
maximum of 280 PS (206 kW; 276 hp) at 5600 rpm. In its first appearance, torque was advertised as 44.3 kgm (435 Nm, 320 lbft) at 4000 rpm
Means the 1jz holds the same amount of power longer than the 2jz. And its because of Yamaha help with the head work. Also the 2jz just has larger injectors which you can push the stock power to around 350 just adding boost.

You do realize that the usdm motor did more power and the jdm is undertuned because of japanese regulations?

Perfectly understandable, I've been there myself. Sleep deprived, but not for the same reasons. :p

I'll leave this here for the 2JZ guys.

I'm guessing this guy lives at home and chose the 1JZ because he was cheap too. ;)

Rumor has it there are some extenuating circumstances around that engine... including a 150 shot of nitrous, 38lbs of boost, and near 9000rpm. You can make power on any engine, the true test is whether you can make it last.

Eh, even without the nitrous, you're looking over the 700whp mark. A built 1j will take 9k without trouble too. However, one oops at power levels like that and you're towing it home...
