Hey all, so I finally got my car running again after a rebuild and NA-T swap. The car is now running crazy rich.
At first the idle was really high (probably 2500) but it would stay running and it was throwing Code 51 (throttle position sensor).
After calibrating the TPS, Code 51 went away...
So I am in the process of redoing the suspension on the supra (new shocks, springs, lower ball joints and front upper arms) and wanted to replace the tie rod ends at the same time. But the supra gods had other plans...
Not with a torch, not with a air chisel and not even with two 18" pipe...
Got bored today so, I did up a chart showing the theoretical top speed in each gear for both R154 and W58 trans with all available gearing.
Might be useful to calculate the most useful gearing for your power band or cruise speed with different gears.
The points on 2nd-5th gear show the RPM...
I picked up a 89 non-airbag steering wheel to put into my 87 but the plug was removed.. So now I have 4 loose wires and I'm not sure what order they go in.
I can't wait to get rid of the pre-89 steering wheel, so I'm hoping someone can help me out by providing a picture of the plug.
Motor:
Built 7M .020over
C/R 8.8:1
I want to run 15psi daily but have the ability to run up to 21psi
on a fairly efficient turbo that still spools around 4000rpm
What would you recommend and how much power do you think it would ultimately put out?
This is going to be random but does anyone know what type of plastic 87' tail lights are made out of? acrylic, polyethylene or something?
I have a old set that are a little foggy and if they are the right material I was going to see about re-finishing them at work.
I just had the motor re-built less than a week ago.
When ever I push in the clutch between 2500-3000rpm (this is the highest I let it go at this point) and let the rpms drop the car stalls. This is annoying but I can drive around it.
Today, after work the car would not idle at all.
Every...
Yes Im going to be another PITA and ask, politely of course, if someone wouldn't mind resizing this so I can use it as my profile picture.
I am no good with photo shop, not yet at least I will be taking it in school next year, nor do I have it.
Brand new motor just finished up today and it will not start. :aigo:
-While it was parked with a blown motor the battery was pulled, recharged and re-installed.. backwards.
-It was also broken into, I checked but it looked like they only went after the stereo no other wires were pulled. Not...
I need a picture with a hot chick holding headlights. Google has failed but it was an interesting sreach either way :evil2:
It's part of a chritsmass gift for my borther in law.
It has to be work safe, not that I care but my sister will :icon_evil
Cars, Girls, Bikes, Boards anything I just need a new wallpaper.
This is what I have been running with for the last while but it is time for something different.
I'm sick of body role so I went in to Toyota the otherday to see if they had TRD sway bar's for my 87.
Apparently they don't carry TRD products.. ok
So they suggested a set from Suspension Techniques for 397.99
What set of sway bars would you recommend?
I have a 89+ turn signal (the switch that controls the signal/ headlights) and I was wondering if will work in my 87 supra.
*Edit*
I know the connections are different so it will not be a straight plug and play but I want to know if it is posible at all.
Thanks.
I am trying to figure out what compression I will end up with and how it will affect the car.
The head will be machined 10thou with a 2.0mm stopper gasket and pistons that .020 over and are rated to 9.0:1
Alberta temperatures can reach as low as -40*c and I have heard forged internals can be affected by the cold and even harm the motor if used before they reach operating temperatures!
This car is my daily driver year round and I was looking for good reliability but the ability to reach 500hp...
The story:
I bought my supra a little less than a year ago. It is a white/burgundy 87' turbo. Like most others it is in ok shape, but I can not complain for $900 CDN. It has been a trying time with this supra and I am sure I have put in more money than it's worth but it is a fun car.
Well, it...
What would an 89+ conversion kit be worth?
It includes trim, 3pice wing, and tail lights.
There is a local guy selling one and it sounds reasonable, I just want to make sure that it is a good price.
