Gearhead Garage — A Focus on the MK3

Glad you're getting the word out, the trailer was killer and I dig your vision for the series. The passion and people behind the cars are my favorite aspects of the hobby, being able to accomplish something like an engine swap with the help of others and then sharing what you learned to help...

    Running a 2jzge on 1jz electronics??

Thanks for the replies guys, I figured it wouldn't be that easy. It's a 93 GE motor, I've still got the harness from the one I put in my MKIII but think I sold the ECU so I'll check out that thread for sure just so we've got options. Does the 2jzgte not have 2 cam sensors and a crank...

    Running a 2jzge on 1jz electronics??

My son picked up a MKII that's set up for a 1jz that we're building for his first car. The PO blew the HG and only the bottom end remains in the car and since my son's footing the bill the budget is tight so we're looking at using a spare 2jzge I have in the garage vs. buying another 1jz (mom...

2JZGE MKIII with 7MGTE Wiring and Electronics

Yep, just don't run more than 10-12psi on premium gas and you'll be fine

    Dok's E85 powered 2jzge-T build

I used some Sta-bil ethanol fuel treatment this time around, our twin girls are due on Thursday and the Supra will be sitting for a while, guess we'll see how it works...

    Dok's E85 powered 2jzge-T build

Just a standard 30 amp 4-pin relay I had in the garage. Just make sure you use a high quality part like Bosch etc., don't want your fuel pump circuit failing and melting pistons!

    Dok's E85 powered 2jzge-T build

400 is run off the stock in-tank fuel pump wiring, the 044 has it's own circuit run off the battery with a fuse and relay that's triggered by the stock fuel pump relay signal.

    1986.5 7mge -> 2jzge my very first build.

Nice build! Manifold clearance issues are pretty common and the coupler will definitely not hold up, I melted one with ~1" between the turbo and manifold. Best option is to have a cast elbow welded to the compressor housing like this: I ended up using a spacer between the turbo and...

500mi update, clutch is broken in and I'm back to 22psi of blissful boost! The 4.30 gears really help with spoolup, car is pulling harder than it ever has before, was a great commute into work this morning :) Tracked down my fuel issues, I bought one of the new Walbro E85 400lph in tank...

    2JZ-GE-T Build - 89 Turbo Supra

Thanks for the update, glad she's still treating you well! These cars are definitely a labor of love but as you mentioned the experience, knowledge, and relationships (even via the internet) you gain along the way make it more than worth it. Sounds like yours has held up a little better than...

    Dok's E85 powered 2jzge-T build

Yep, both times were pretty close to the house, I hoofed it home in 100 degree heat in my work clothes the first day and the wife was kind enough to pick me up the 2nd which is a feat considering she's ~7mo pregnant with twins :) I ended up flushing my surge tank a couple times over the weekend...

    Dok's E85 powered 2jzge-T build

Transmission is working well but apparently the E85 has been hard at work while sitting in the fuel system for 8mo, my inline fuel filter has gotten clogged about 5x in the past 3 days leaving me stranded twice. Hopefully I'm close to getting all the crap out...

If you're buying injectors I'd just go as big as you can so you don't have to upgrade later, the 880s tune fine with a lex afm and piggyback and I'd be willing to bet 1000s would do fine as well. I think beyond that you may have some issues unless you get something like a VPC, Juhanis over on...

    Dok's E85 powered 2jzge-T build

Done and not done, got 500mi of clutch break-in ahead of me... Took a spin around the block, so far so good, also cleaned all the crud from sitting off and put a coat of wax on, it's a slightly shinier shade of pink now :) I ran with the Lex and 680cc injectors before upgrading to the 880s...

    Dok's E85 powered 2jzge-T build

Was basically the same as it would be running on gas, just need bigger injectors. With the lex AFM and 880cc injectors I was able to tune it pretty easily, you can also adjust your base fuel pressure as needed and fine tune with the piggyback. The stock ECU adjusts pretty well to changes in...

Got 'er all back together tonight and it seems I made a rookie mistake--put the dang clutch disc in backwards! This is probably the 10th clutch install I've done but I guess that's what happens when you're worn out and in a hurry, I also blame a lack of beer intake. For anyone with a South...

    Dok's E85 powered 2jzge-T build

At this point the metal is already fatigued so it would just bend again, even if it was fixable I'm not sure I'd put another stock style pressure plate in as it would only be a matter of time before it twisted again without something keeping it from doing so. I thought about turning the boost...

    Dok's E85 powered 2jzge-T build

It seems to depend on the brand, I had a set of NGK wires and a couple weren't long enough but then bought some Bosch wires and they fit ok. You do have to slide the boot up some on the wire to ensure they click on to the top of the spark plugs, I think the valley cover on the 2j is taller than...
