Yoy might try changing the thermostat and make sure its an OEM one witht he little hole in the ring. bought one from the local auto parts store (car quest) and it ran way too hot and wouldnt open, my guess because it didnt have that little hole to let the air bleed through. i ended up putting...
SO im tothe fun part of the 1jz swap... doing the wiring. I have cut a hole in the fire wall and i ran the harness through and am going to mount the ECU on the passenger side by the floor and extend the harness with plugs and wires from the 7M harness. just cant find the witch wires from the 1jz...
Dude you get your wiring thing figured out? its starting to look good. I'm picking up the 1j on monday, then the fun begins! you might have to come by when you get some free time, lol I need to come see yours too. we'll see if we start a JZ trend in idaho now lol... funny thing is 2j was in a...

Well a lot and I mean A LOT!! of looking around, phone calls and e-mails I finally made a decision...
Before I mention anything, I want to give another big thanks to Aron from Drift Motion, best and most helpful guy I've dealt with in this search...
ha yeah.. idk about some of these importers either. some people i've been happy with and others i could care less for. I've been talking with aron from drift motion and he has been a big help and I may just go through him if I dont get an engine from one of the guys on here... either way he's...
Well my engine is sold so now I start the adventure of trying to find a reputable place to get an engine from. Thought I'd start here and ask you guys where you got yours and who you had good luck with and who you should avoid. I'm looking to get a full swap but I do have a spare r154 so its not...
You finaly working on it again? or do i need to come over again and give some motivation? LOL i finaly started working on my engine again!
And the piping is very nicely done
I would just get new pistons, just over a $100 for stock nippon pistons with rings off ebay, plus they look pretty decent and you can get them .020 over. Good replacement if you jsut want to get it running again and have good reliability under light mod cnditions... Anyone else have luck with...
Thats what i was thinking, so i think ill give it a shot, plus i dont think its gonna sell anyways. should flow pretty good and have good spool characteristics im thinkin
Im working on selling the diesel turbo right now, its on ebay for 175 and no ones bid on it so i might use it. plus it has an internal wastegate. just need to put the ct actuator on it which i have. I already have an adaptor plate, but with a little modding to the bolt holes on the housing and a...
Thats wierd cause my stock one did, i was running 15psi on it. i put an SSQV on it and it still did it a bit till i adjusted the spring tension on the valve. i have a FFIM if that makes a difference, but it did it with the stocker too. unless the stock BOV makes a fluttering sound....
That is what i really want to do, but i dont have the funds for one right now, and the TD06 is very similar to the 20g, it might even have the same compressor wheel.... plus i think it will have good spool/flow characteristics. Anyways, im not sure what im goin to do yet. I kind of like to try...
Its compressor surge, garranteed! my car did the same thing when i upped the boost, thought it was the stock BOV making the sound, but i changed BOV and it did the same thing. The stock valve doesnt flow enough with higher boost levels so you get compressor surge
So i'm freshening up (rings, bearings, gaskets, ect...) my 7m and i sold the stocker to gets some needed parts for the rebuild. Now i'm kicking around the idea of a larger turbo.... I've got a few choices. #1 buy another stocker. #2 I have a Mitsubishi TD06-3 off a FUSO truck with a 12cm...
that should put you damn close to 350hp
I made 260hp and 320lbs torque at the wheels in my 90' with the stock turbo @ 11psi with ebay downpipe, ported elbow, ported mani, 3" exhaust, MHG/ARPs, and FMIC
Ran a 13.6@ 102mph with a 2.0 60ft on street tires
