I have a 7mgte with rod knock and needs to be rebuilt, does anyone know of a reputable machine shop that is experienced in inline 6's and specificaly the 7m? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I still think it was worth buying for $400...all the accessories are still on it, and some good spare parts. But I would like to open it up, check it out and throw it in while I rebuilt the rod knock one.
I HAVE A QUESTION, BUT HERE IS SOME BACKGROUND...I believe I have rod knock in the motor thats in my car now.(I did do all the diagnostics for rod knock my self) I have a Boss turbo from suprasport (62-1) with walbro 255, lexus afm, 550cc inj, fpr, fcd, front mount, 3in turbo back ect...I JUST...
Good luck! Mine creeps foward towards the rad to the end of the cam gears...I gotta check the guide on the crank pulley, never knew there was opne there!
Well I changed my CPS so I had to check the timing and I noticed that when my crank pulley was at TDC the cam gear notches weren't perfect...but it was close enough. I got some pics of what the cps looks like at TDC. So I got the car running and took if for a ride and it felt strong, only at...
Got my timing straightened out...car runs good and strong but I think I have rod knock now...maybe time to build-up the internals or swap for a 2jz....Freakin sucks
I checked if the piston is at TDC when the crank pulley is at zero..and it is. The cam gears line up with the notch marks pretty good as well (maybe not dead on)
a mm or 2 maybe 3. I've seen pictures of how the CPS should be lined up at TDC but every car seems to be a little different. How can...
Later today I will take a pic of the cam gears with belt on and correct tension while the crank pulley is at 0...as well as the cam possition sensor. Maybe that will help.
I'll get some pics up...I do believe that at 0 the #1 piston is at its peak. (just by looking in with a light) I got everything lined up as close as I could and the car idled great, but while driving I heard a ticking, sounded like valves. But the car drove fine.
