ON the stock gauges you can pull the wire from the sensor and ground it to the engine and it will make the gauge pin out so you will know the wire and gauge are good so that leaves the sending unit i dont know how your aftermarket setup works though
Have you ran a compression test...
Was the head pressure checked ..
Any color smoke coming out of the exhaust
I agree with IJ check the woodriff key see if it is loose or bent the crank is at TDC when the key way is straight up
you could probably feel the notch with out taking it...
i just put a 89+turbo in a 86.5 body
87 car will be yellow plugged /////89+ will be grey plugged
Your harness will not work in a pre 89..
Which also mean you need a yellow plug ecu..
Almost forgot you need A HAC Sensor 89+ had it built into the ecu
It might be a ground problem i would check the ground on the coil packs and igniter look for broke wires also your cps controls spark and the wires often are worn out because of the high heat of the area it is located in good luck
Nice project just a reminder that drift cars are alot more about suspension than motor
a lot of stuff i have read will talk about high hp cars being bad to learn how to drift in you rely on power instead of momentum
You already knew that though looks like a good build the lightnin isnt...
Here are my measurments that i just took for piston to bore clearence and they are.0010 out of spec...
is this why my rings do not fit??
pistons are 3.2675
bore is 3.2720
p2b is .0045
Haynes says.0028-.0035 even being that makes me .0010 off spec seems like the rings were sized to...
I just checked my oil control ring and there the same about .028 ish and thats also out of spec
Should i be very concerned or are these liveable specs
On a side note this engine is not gonna be a daily its only going to be ran hard on the track so bigger tolerances on the top two rings...
thanks i was hoping you would chime in...
What would be needed to increase my pcv flow?
I will run a catch can to help with the excesss blowby other than that i dont have any ideas
Alright im test fittting my rings in my bore to check the end gaps and have found them to big...
Just so you know im using my piston to push the ring squarely into the bore..
spec in my haynes is .0114-.0173 inch..top ring
.098-.0209 bottom ring
Both rings are .028ish i am running...
Your build sounds like mine im using the nprs off driftmotion
std size
resized rods with arps
crank grnd .010 under
im using a fidanza flywheel also
Im getting my engine balanced cause im going to be driving in pure track situations
But in reality it is a good idea to get even a...
OK searched for a while got lots of info not what i needed though
Ive recently took my block/ head to a reputable machine shop....
he called me thursday and told me his machine could not deck the block with the lower timing plate installed....
So my question is what kind of machine did...
All the lsd housing are exactly the same theres no difference except for the gears inside..
im sure the 3.93 will be fine your just gonna lose a little off the line
Goodluck DW
You have a 4.3 open diff right now unless you have a powerful Na it is wiser to try and find a 4.3 lsd from a NA sports package.....
Installation and removal is pretty straigh forward i used an impact and a big breaker bar ...............
I still have the 89 my turbo came out of so i got all the electronics i need
You say the 89 ecu has more hp n tq ?
I thought that 89 ons had +2 hp because a revised wastegate how does that ecu make more power??????????????????????
Thanks for the responses i have decided not to pull the body harness
IM SELLIN MY 89 harness and ecu and gettn ones from a 88 or 87 is there abything i will have to interchange
Things that come to mind are
afm
Cps
coil packs etc.. Thanks DW
Yeah its a grey plug harness so its not interchangeble with my 86 yellow plug
Im probably gonna swap the dash and body harness because the 86's wiring is looking a little on the corroded side............\\
Does this include wiring to the tails as well?
Are there any benefits to running...
I have searched and searched but didnt find my exact swap info..............
I recently picked up a 86.5 NA hardtop and am swapping in my 7mgte from my 89 targa turbo............\\
Will it all go together with a little effort or would it be wiser to pick up A pre 89 7mgte harness and...
Very Interesting so thats why hot air will always come out of the vents even when you have it on cool on a hot summer day.............
So the best thing to do is leave the J tube and just run a hose were the heater core was and this will ensure that all the cylinders get there coolant flow...
