I have searched and searched but didnt find my exact swap info..............

I recently picked up a 86.5 NA hardtop and am swapping in my 7mgte from my 89 targa turbo............\\

Will it all go together with a little effort or would it be wiser to pick up A pre 89 7mgte harness and ecu.....

I have heard there are benifits to the 89 ecu

Thanks for the input by the way i not keeping the abs not that it makes a difference

depends when the 89 was made. If its early it should be interchangeable. look at the plug color. If they are the same you're good.

I'm going to say no.

Everything I've ever seen or shown me (including information from Toyota) shows all 89 harnesses were the same, there was never a change made part way through the year. I'm sick of hearing that.

Yeah its a grey plug harness so its not interchangeble with my 86 yellow plug

Im probably gonna swap the dash and body harness because the 86's wiring is looking a little on the corroded side............\\

Does this include wiring to the tails as well?

Are there any benefits to running a 89+ ecu or are they the same???????
thats gonna be the deal breaker.....

The one thing I know of is the HAC is integrated into the ECU.

FYI, when you pull the body harness you might have to pull the blower motor housing.

the 89 ecu has more hp and torque than pres's plus it ahs a stock redline of 6500rpm versus 90+ which is 6250.

all afm, coils, cps are interchangeable.

all 86.5's were non turbos so you need all the appropriate sensors for the gte.

I still have the 89 my turbo came out of so i got all the electronics i need

You say the 89 ecu has more hp n tq ?

I thought that 89 ons had +2 hp because a revised wastegate how does that ecu make more power??????????????????????
