You have a 4.3 open diff right now unless you have a powerful Na it is wiser to try and find a 4.3 lsd from a NA sports package.....

Installation and removal is pretty straigh forward i used an impact and a big breaker bar ...............

thanks for the quick reply. how hard would it be to go to 3.93 what all would I need? 4.3 would be fine if i can find one but im looking for a little better gas mileage, thats why im so concerned about the 3.93

Either you're in for a lot of work changing the Ring and pinion or you just get a 3.93 LSD. I've tore diffs apart, and they are a pita. I would rather build 5 engines than one diff. But that's just me.

Ok, to swap a 4.3 ls to a 3.93 you'd need a new ring and pinion. To swap an open diff to an lsd, I don't know off the top of my head. Make sure you replace every gasket you encounter in the diff and double check all the tolerances.

yeah i wanna buy the whole 3.73 lsd and just swap it, and i was wondering if they just bolt up, and if they do what materials i would need. ive done some lsd rebuilding and like you said i dont want any part of that. i dont mind changing stuff like axles, gaskets, and what not, and i could live with the 4.3, but i do alot of commuting on highway and dont like to have the engine rapped so high, plus hearing about 5 to 6 mpg gains has got me intrigued. thanks everyone for your replys I meant 3.73 also this is on my body tag G284 = 4.30:1 4-pinion 8.0" N/A Diff (no-LSD, USA Only)

All the lsd housing are exactly the same theres no difference except for the gears inside..
