Crazy how fast your life can flash in front of your eyes..

Really sad to see that happen. I've had a few very close calls sharing the road with people who are too old/medicated to be driving.

    block machining question

^ yes. I would recommend pulling up on the breaker bar instead of pushing down. Have a helper holding the block down. when I tried to torque downwards it felt like the engine stand was going to collapse.

    block machining question

I put all the bearings and caps in a box in order and labeled them. The main caps already have numbers and directional arrows on them. The bearings aren't marked, they are all the same except the number 1 main bearing is larger iirc. I would recommend taking the crank to a machine shop to be...

Can you unplug each injector individually to isolate the knock? How much oil pressure does it have?

Full 3 inch exhaust system causes fuel cut?

Just bought it, just blew the HG

Welcome, You are right about 7M engines needed a perfect rebuild. You can't cut any corners. I don't know anywhere in the area that specializes in Supras, but I think your best bet would be some of the performance import machine shops in Portland. Call and ask them if they have built 7M's...

    a340e shift solenoid

I'm working on a friends 89 supra, it starts out in 3rd gear and throws trans code 62 (shift solenoid 1) and 64(lockup solenoid). Occasionally it works fine. Does this sound like a wiring issue or is it common for shift solenoids to go bad?

How many pounds of boost can you run on a (mostly) stock 7M-GTE SAFELY?

I'm guessing he means stock as in: fuel system, intercooler, no wideband etc. 10 psi should be safe on the stock setup as long as everything is working properly.

    Compression test results

Curious about my compression numbers, about 4000mi on 7M build with standard GTE pistons, 2.0mm HG, I forgot how much was taken off the head and block but I remember it being about right for the HG thickness I chose. It's making 180 psi across all 6 cylinders, warm engine, throttle open. It...

    quick weight question/s

Remove spare, jack, a/c, cruise control, driver's seat is extremely heavy; replace with a passenger seat, rear wiper motor, antenna motor, and an aluminum driveshaft makes a big difference.

Buying an MKIII, which is the best route to go?

Swapping an OEM headgasket with ARP head studs isn't a hard job if you are a decent mechanic. It will cost about $500 if you are replacing all the hoses and gaskets along the way. The bad part is the chance that antifreeze mixed with oil from the BHG, it will wipe out the bearings very quickly...

    Go for 57 trim?

Fuel cut depends on elevation and air temperature. I would guess it would be under 10 psi with a 57 trim on a cold day. A 57 trim isn't going to blow your HG. Detonation will. I would install a wideband so you can keep an eye on your A/F ratio at all times.
