Taking all that stuff off should allow the stock ECU to control the timing to acceptable limits if the cam isn't a full out race cam. Another option is to pick up a set of stock cams for piece of mind. They are all over the place these days.
Different bell housing on the 2jz compared to the 7M. Also the V160 is longer so the shifter will not line up. I am also thinking there is a lot of transmission tunnel modification needed to physically fir the V160 .
So I am in the planning stages of converting to a 2JZ with automatic transmission. Being that the A340 variants aren't known for holding power I am considering other alternatives. Am particularly interested in the GM 4L60. Has anyone had any experience installing this into the MKIII body. I have...
You can remove that AFM and sir box as the turbo motor uses a different housing. Also can remove the P/S res but save it for now. You may want it later. On the other side remove the ign coil as that isn't needed anymore and you can remove the cruise control unit as you will not be able to use it...
Interesting use of tube socks. The HG looks to be a used composite gasket or even the Fel Pro part that came out of the box it is laying on. Most belts and hoses can be had from any local parts store.
I have always had a preference to the 87 - 88 front end. The full width grille just has more appeal and the possibility of more cooling IMHO. The rear needs to be 89+. Unlike Nick I prefer the wing.
With the weather being flakey around here I decided to stay indoors and rebuild the transmission.
Next up is the valve body modifications to make it all worth it.
OIl cooler is fabbed in . Have to replace the condensor fan before I can final bolt it all in place but can get everything around it fabbed up. Inter-cooler will be next.
More progress today. Removed the old leaking PS rack. The PPS valve almost made me go purchase a metric adjustable wrench. Thankfully my standard adjustable wrench came through. Couldn't find any good P/S rack bushings so I didn't mount the new rack down yet. It is in place just waiting on new...
Seven years after I purchased my first Supra and started updating and rebuilding it, I am starting over on another Supra. The short story on the old car is that I screwed it up. The full build thread can be found here. To summarize my, I shimmed my oil pump too much and was blowing oil filters...
Top passenger. Everything else was done with air ratchet. My gearwrench would only fit on the stock bar. The ST bar made me lose some religion.

I have the heat sheilding intake gasket that Driftmotion sells. I am doubting it's ability to seal, especially the water port below the intake runner at cylinder #2. I like the theory of the gasket and would like to make it work. However, I can only think of 2 ways to ensure it seals and both...
On Ebay right now. Looks to be a turbo pan but could always just block the return off.
