PVC = Polyvinyl Chloride
http://www.geomembrane.com/TechPapers/WhatIsPVC.htm
When PVC is heated it does release chlorine... how much depends on how hot it's getting.
EDIT:
Whoops I see this has already been covered, for the most part. PVC does release Chlorine when merely heated...
When I picked up my MKIII my antenna would sometimes move up or down... I just rubbed the mast down with a thick coat of all purpose grease, manipulated it a couple times as mentioned by -Maniac- and I haven't had a problem since.
A full swap is without a doubt the easiest thing, I was just going with what the thread started with: dumping the N/A AFM for something else.
I know what you mean about the Honduhs... I've got a black hood... no not CF, but that's enough. A black hood on a white car means I MUST want to race...
Well, if you're planning on going N/A-T then yeah, pulling from a clip is great... all the hardware to go with the wiring... if you just want to get something other then the stock AFM running a maft pro and LS-1 MAF would run about ~$500 and you won't take a nasty hit on the timing advance of...
Oh no.... I'm sorry to say you're just going through denial... It's over. Time to start digging through the FS section and sell me that huge piece of scrap metal for the couple dollars it's now only worth.... <sigh> what a world... what a world...
Sorry for your loss...
That would seriously depend on how minimal the shaft play is.... I've already got one waiting for a rebuild and a balance of the new impeller. PM me with the details.
Back OT, have you already got a GTE clip? I don't see how that would be less expensive.
How about I let you know how it goes? :evil2: I've got my maft pro and I'm trying to figure out what all is entailed in the configuration to get up and running on a LS-1 MAF.
I picked up my maft pro a while back while I had the cash... planning ahead for adding a turbo. My AFM took a crap on...
You're always going to need some way of measuring the amount of air going into the engine at a given point in time... whether that be via MAF or MAP is the question. The MAFT Pro (Mass Air Fuel Translator Pro) give you the ability of using a system of your choosing with your existing ECU.
I...
Couldn't you use a GTE AFM on GE electronics with a maft pro? Not worth the money if that's all you're looking to do, but that'd probably be the easiest route.
I've driven my friends '96 many times... I really like it. I wouldn't compare to a MKIII personally, they're very different beasts. The E36 is VERY responsive and handles wonderfully ---> provided it's in good shape.
Most of the glass ones have a couple clips which you just fold down and then the metal retainers in the front will just slide out.
I take my glass out all the time. It's cake.
Yeah, I'd expect some... I'm not really worried about it right now though since I've found that the AFM is what's dying....
Perhaps I should just water cool my AFM? I could probably get another month out of it.:evil2:
ROFL
Hey don't knock it... without using thew hair dryer I wouldn't have found the fault in the AFM which is causing my problems.
Still the TPS's resistance isn't smooth, but it's not what's causing my problem. It's just acting like I'd expect from a 20yo wire wound pot.
Spent the night fixing an oil leak and diagnosing my problem... My AFM is shot:
AFM Diagnosis Results
Test Result Spec. Tolerance
Temperature at time of test: 14ºC (57ºF)
Vs - E² 674Ω 20Ω - 600Ω
Vc - E² 280Ω 200Ω - 400Ω
THA - E² 3.15KΩ...
Hey guys, I'm testing my TPS right now. The test results fit the specified results listed in the TSRM.... BUT, when I heat the TPS up with a hair dryer and test the resistence between E2 and and VTA and I slowly close the throttle from full open to full closed I get mad spikes all over the...
