Whether or not you see any benefit from the aux fans running is going to also depends on when the thermostat is opening. If you're running warm due to the thermostat not opening readily enough the fans won't do much, if anything.

Let's qualify this statement by adding that this is NOT the case with a N/A. ;)

Don't imagine you'd want a very effective ram air intake on a turbo MKIII... boost might start to creep up when it shouldn't. No pics yet... I'm still building the base form over which the fiberglass will be molded. Then comes building the shaped box and cone (for the end cap on the filter)...

To check for a bad gasket or a vacuum leak you can try waving an unlit propane torch along the lines and unions. If the idle shifts suddenly then you've found a leak were air is entering and shouldn't be. You don't need to open the valve on the torch too much... Some people just start spraying...

Heh... is the cold air intake actually drawing in cold air? Pics? It's hard for anyone to say what to upgrade and when, we don't know the car's history or its current weak spots. Personally, if you tend to drive fast I'd start with the brakes and then suspension. I'm in Denver too.... what...

I'd start with checking the ACIS diaphragm, then the vacuum hoses, then the VSV. ACIS is an accoustic modulation system in the intake... basically just a computer controlled valve which changes the way the air flows. If it's shot you'll loose power on the low end. If no one else covers it I'll...
