I just got my car to idle perfiect. I changed the afm, then loosened the screw on the afm body then I backed out the idle screw on the throttle body. u might want to try the idle screw then. if that don't fix it try the afm.
it seem like you have a lot of space, how bout a long cone filter, mine is 16 inch, i got it from auto zone for 35.00 or two filters. yeah i know cheap mod that work is the way to go, check out my galllery for the pic of my air filter, its huge.
i tried to put cloth around the opening of the afm once and it sputtered plenty. try resetting the ecu by pulling out the efi fuse for a whole minute then put it back in. it might take a few days before the ecu relearn and calibrate the new amount of air. i resetted my car 3 days ago and it...

i have similar problem. my rpm isnt higher then idle on cold starts and the rpm would flutuate between 500 and 700, i have no codes and the car acclerate great, just the exhaust popping when i let off the gas not stalling. any idea, Dr. J or anybody?
i have the fog light cold air intake mod and its awesome for performance. more power and acceleration. its a must for some one that loves picking up. the faster u a going the more positive effect it has, say around 40mph in 2nd gear or 50mph in 3. thats not even high rpm and the accel is great...
when u have the door open, look for the button with with a rubber peice covering in. the button is pushed in when the door is closed to turn off the light. u might have to jiggle it. and see if the light come on . thats where my problem is. i havent pulled it out but im sure u can fix it easily...

take the glove box out and look at the ecu and see if the two clear wires have been cut and rewire to a different wire then trace it through the firewall to the underside of the intake manifold. that mystery wire look like it was purposely cut for the harness clip to be reuse in the rewire...
