I put a new plug in #1 & took the car for a quick blast, covering only about 2km.
Two bursts in 1st to 6400 & one to 6700 in second & shut it down within a minute and set at 15 degrees timing.
Let it cool down for half an hour before removing the plug.
Too much timing?
In the last few days I installed a modified ECU in my auto 7MGE.
The shift points at WOT have been increased from 6200 to 6700 rpm & the engine pulls to this new redline in 2nd quite well as I am running the BC264 cams & new valve springs.
Would I have to increase the static timing by 1-2...
I have the BC264 cams & for daily driving have them set at +2 I & 0 E.
This setting has good power to around 5000rpm.
For dyno runs I change it to 0 I & -2 E for maximum power around 6000.
From experience I have found that advancing your intake will usually kill your top end.
My Australian Hurricane brand has the same cylinder collector setup.
The primary ID is only 1 1/4" but I still make good hp running 2 1/4 from end of header to end of first muffler followed by 3" to second muffler & end.
At least the flange is nice & thick plus the O2 sensor is at the bottom...
There are two methods of measuring cam specs ie seat-to-seat & lift @0.05" thats why it appears confusing.
At intake +3.5 & exhaust +4 (cam timing) overlap will be 9 degrees.
What are your valve lash (clearance) settings?
Yes 9 degrees for Toyota & 8 degrees for the BC.
I have given you two lots of figures: one for seat-to-seat & the other for .05" lift.

Specs for the standard Toyota cams @ 0.05" lift (probably).
Maybe you should modify the title to include 7MGTE cam timing to attract someone that can give you a good starting point with these cams.
I use the DYNO2000 engine analyzer software to determine the figures.
The BC264 cams have the following specs, at 0 & 0 setting:
IO 22 BTDC
IC 62 ABDC
EO 70 BBDC
EC 14 ATDC
36 degrees overlap
114 LSA
You have to double the crank degree variation for any cam alteration, ie 1...
Each time you alter the exhaust cam position you have to readjust your base timing. Altering the intake cam has no affect on the base timing.
If you had it at 12 & then advanced the exhaust 3.5 degrees your timing would be more like 17+ now so check your timing & bring it back to 12 as this...
You are currently running -2 I & +3.5 E cam timing at 119.5 lobe centre & 25 degrees valve overlap.
Have you filed the dizzy slot so you can retard the exhaust cam more & obtain more static advance as the distributor drive on the cam is out of sync?

Sure the build quality leaves a bit to be desired but for the money they are good value & they do perform well.
I dont really care about the Nissan & Honda problems as I have given my hell & have no issues with them at all...
Here is one of my latest dyno results.
Run at intake 0 & exhaust -2, timing 13 & 17 BTDC in a auto Cressida, with the BC264 cams.
As you can see it comes to life around 4000 & keeps pulling strong.

Mine pull really well in the 4500-6500 range.

Just did a comp. test & the two cylinders are up to 170 so problem solved.
Had some exhaust mods done:
2 1/4 to 3" after the first muffler flange straight through to a rear 3" muffler.
Sounds a bit louder but not as bad as I anticipated, around 88db at 3000.
Will see how the new setup...
Well I pulled the head again & took it to a machine shop to check for leaks & #3 & 5 were definately leaking at the valves.:3d_frown:
