    Straight 30 oil for break-in

How do I determine whether friction modifiers are absent from the formula or not? I don't see anywhere on the back that indicates either way. Thanks.

    Straight 30 oil for break-in

I read the above sticky, getting ready to break in the 7m. I bought super tech universal motor oil SAE 30 from Walmart. Says designed for use where sae 30 API CF-2, CF or SJ oil is recommended. Is this correct for initial break-in? Thanks in advance

    Installed the DM IC kit

I can't remember exactly how long my lasted, but it died fairly quickly. If you can try to keep it away from high heat or invest in a better one.

How to identify the culprit behind power steering problems

I will check the screen. I have had the vacuum line that attaches to the bottom of the accordion hose hooked up, but I will check it out to be sure everything is good. Thanks for the replies.

How to identify the culprit behind power steering problems

89+. I have spent the last 6 months doing a full rebuild w. MHG, forged pistons/rods, etc. Car will be going again next week. Problem was occurring before rebuild, but I did not have the finances to secure a new rack during the build (I know it was the best time). If I have to pull it back...

How to identify the culprit behind power steering problems

I searched and sifted through many threads, but I couldn't find the answer to my issue. Power steering is weak at low RPM's, it turns fine once I start moving. How do you know which power steering component is failing? Trial and error? I noticed many threads said that the rack needed to be...

Changing my head gasket, me asking for your help while doing this

I think I was able to do it with a socket, small hose, and pressing on them. Took a few tries sometimes.

    Head Gasket Thickness Rounding Down

Thanks Dan for doing that math for me. I was just failing to understand some of the concepts associated with the compression ratio. That is not as large of a difference than I thought. One more question, in general terms a lower compression ratio allows for more boost while a higher...

    Head Gasket Thickness Rounding Down

Nash, are you saying I'll be at an inc of .010 at 2.27mm from the 2.0mm HG or the 2.2mm HG? I'm not looking to add the adjustable cams. I'm already having to juggle the MAFT PRO into the build. I want to remain as stock as possible (after what's already been done until it's completely broken...

    Head Gasket Thickness Rounding Down

My buddy just tried to order valve shims from SIP, and the order didn't get processed for over two weeks. Couldn't get him to answer the phone or respond. Not sure if I want to try after hearing that...his brother also said he thought that the guy who runs that site had been banned from SM at...

    Head Gasket Thickness Rounding Down

I just wanted to verify that rounding down to a HG size will not cause any problems. My block measured out to 198.35, which is .15mm off stock after machining. The head was 115.25 or .75mm off stock. I need a 2.27mm HG. Cometic HG's do not come in that exact size, but after searching I saw...
