The oil pressure wire is in the m1 connector which i think you have connected. Its a yellow with black strip from the sensor to the gauge so it needs to match all the wya. Can you take a pic of the wires on both sides of the yellow plug that is connected to the gray plug. From the pics it...

Ya double check the M1 plug as that has both the water temp and oil pressure wires in it. Edit: they really didnt do a good job on the wiring as he still left you with a 89+ plug when you needed all pre89 plugs. Took me a while to figure that one out.

Its a 87 id only pay 4k max. If your going to swap anything you better expect to spend at least 5k.

I wish i took some pics of the stock head bolts when i tore down the last motor. Over half of the bolts corroded the top 3 threads and about a 1cm above the threads. You should always re-tap the head bolt threads so they go in smoothly and dont give false readings when torquing.
