Why did it only run for 200 miles? How could you tell u needed to pull it apart again from just scratches on a main bearing? Just curious of what the symptoms were.
Daily drive an 08 tundra but in a couple weeks when this long overdue build on my sup comes to an end I know I would have a very hard time choosing the tundra over the supra every morning even if the gas wasnt a factor. I couldn't stop driving it when it was a stock (when it ran right) so I know...
Don't sweat it man...the point they are making is valid enough, but the real issue here is when you become extremely good at something you get confident; confidence sometimes turns to cockiness and you tend to forget that you were novice...even if it is reflected on a car forum on the internet...
You can run them no problem...I have GE cams in my GTE head..if I remember correctly there was a graph floating around that showed the GE cams provide some minor gains as opposed to GTE cams during low rpms.
Thanks supra guy that seems to be a good option as well (definitely cheaper). As far as re sizing the rod he said he wouldn't use it. I'm not sure how they do it, but I think he was saying something about having to take too much off for it to be reusable.
Guess I didn't expect yota to carry 26 year old rods...but that's good to know, are these like reman or what's the story on these any idea? thank u for the part number..$93 for one....
I'm not sure how to measure one but I believe u have to torque them down and it gets pretty precise.
Machine shop calls a week after I was supposed to have my block and says one rod (the one where my bearing spun) does not measure within spec and all the other ones are perfect.
So my question is what is the best way to go about finding one stock rod in very good condition? I'm not ready to...
Can someone point me in the right direction for upgrading my oiling system then. Simply getting a different oil cooler will still empty into the pan right? Is there a certain way people relocate our coolers and lines for the better?
No, if it was a necessity for me to get a better quality cooler i would. You can make an argument either way, but I have seen people run without a cooler at all for years and be fine. So for me it was more about making sure my stocker is clean for now until i go for more power someday. I am more...
Lol I said all in the hope of...meaning I don't really know what I'm talking about. But my thinking was bigger filter=better flow=better pressure? Please inform me better, that's what I'm here for...and what your supposed to be here for. Lol
Damn...that may be outta reach but I'm making my buddy go with me regardless. We may end up rolling up in his 500rwhp z28 instead of the sup, but there will be other days!
