Like everyone else has said, upgrade the wiring--the "big 3"
-Power wire from battery to alternator
-Ground from Battery to chassis
-Ground from battery to body
Next, upgrade the alternator. MR2 turbo's are either 120 or 160amp, as opposed to our 80amps.

Running 2 speakers only can be done 1 of 2 ways:
1.) Using Deck power only: Turn the Fader to the front all the way OR cut the leads coming out of the wiring harness that go to the rear speakers
2.)...
well, generally speaking, the speaker enclosures get screwed down somewhere, so they aren't just floating around; this doesn't change the fact that they look tacky though :D
In all honesty bro, take all the money you would've spent on the rear-4 speakers and put it all into a set of front...
