Thoughts on your auto to 5 speed swap?

I am swapping the auto for a 5 speed in my 92, but I will eventually go back to a turbo 400 auto in the future. I broke the budget this year on the car, so the auto setup will come another day. I had to put the 5 speed in for now because I would have trashed a stock auto with a 67mm singled 2J.

Figured I would share my thoughts

That is too much rust. I would move on and find a better one. You will outlay a lot more to fix it than getting a rust free shell.

    Power steering pump identification

To the best of my knowledge, all turbos 89+ came standard with PPS. PPS was an option on the NA's. For example my 89 turbo (built Nov 88) had PPS, while my 92 NA does not.

    Vista SP1

Apparently, you have little to no experience in Enterprise IT environments. Vista is horrible and won't be deployed in most Enterprise environments for a long time due to problems with commercial applications. Home use is fine but I am not a fan of Vista at all.

who's not using a metal hg?

Headgasket wasnt the problem on the 7M, it was the torque spec. I see nothing wrong with running the stock gasket if your power goals aren't high and money is tight as long as you replace the head bolts and torque them properly.

    hp gains?

I would sell the supra if it didnt have A/C....seriously. I will never drive another car without cold A/C, especially here in Florida. I had my ps down for awhile and I hated driving without it. Keep them both if you drive your car much. If it's a drag or track car, then ditch it for the weight.

    Make a 2JZ N/A block, into a GTE one?

Go over to clubna-t.com There are a ton of threads on this very topic. Most people use the IS300 union bolt with the GE oil filter housing for the oil supply. Use your GTE pan since it has the return. There is no need to tap the block for the oil supply. Chris

REIGN's REBUILD! Its a beautiful thing... (THAT IS FOR SALE) =(

I have come so close to parting mine it is not even funny. I often get that sick feeling of how much money I have spent versus what I will get in return. When I get down, I go for a ride in some of my buddies 1J cars. Just the pull and engine sound motivates me to continue. Hang in there...

HUGE potential 2JZ swap (4 months from 12 May out from 600rwhp)

I would get the drewgo 2J manifold. It fit perfect and it is ceramic coated. The welds look great and there is no trash in the collectors. I decided to not run a catch can so I have a Greddy one if you are interested.
