Hey there new guy! Shocks are normally independent of the spring while a strut is a shock w/ a spring on/ over it . But they perform the same function.
But my question is Why do you want to buy shocks and springs. I mean, what is your intended goal ? I know your on a budget and being new...

Lookin at gettin these(KONI) with GC coilovers. My question is Are the koni's a drop in strut? Do they replace the Entire strut body or do they "drop into" the stock strut body?

When you made your oil pan did you make the entire sump? did you put in oil diverters...
Ok I just swapped my manual 88 N/A into a 90 turbo auto body . I ran into a few snags too. But IM assuming you used the 91 harness and ECU when you did the swap. This is what I did an every thing was fine ( sort of )after I fixed it !
yeah we use the Honker. But actually We did use a flagger once and at a stop light no less. It was one of my best ass kickings to date. Watching him up in smoke while Im 4 cars ahead. Dumb kids dont know HOW to Drag. LOL
If the pump was going bad you Would be losing coolant. Bad typically means the bearing or seal go out thus causing the leak.
I want to know if your sure that there is NO air in you system. This could also cause the spotty temp readings In different locations of the engine. Check your system...
