    Dan: I had a set of custom solid bars made to replace the stock hollow ones way back in 97 and haven't had a problem with mounts! I wonder if there are other factors in the failures?

    Check for lights on as in the glovebox or trunk! I'd expect it to take a bit longer than 9 hours to discharge though if that's the cause.

    If a piece gets pounded by a Valve it's pretty well all over AJ ditto if it makes it through and into the turbine.

    With the increase in revs the oil pressure comes up fills the gap between the bearing and crank and the noise goes away. Eventually the bearing wears enough that the oil can't achieve this anymore and you get the knock all the time.

    The throwout/input gear bearing can make a noise but is easy to isolate... Push the clutch in and it should stop if that's it!

    It's interseting to see all the "weight savings" type justifications for removing the AirCon! The Mk3 is NEVER going to be a lightweight no matter how much you strip ;) Gotta wonder how many of the drivers could lose a pound or 10. Buy a Mk2 and swap your running gear in if weight is...

    No probs! Your buds car may have been played with as well! Once Jeff Lange see's this he can advise on how much boost each year got I recall something about the boost being raised when they changed from the 6m crank to the 7m but I'm not certain. (that happened around 89/90)

    Don't know if there's any set time period, just cruise around the hood a bit do some stop starts and such and it should be fine. Last time I ran on the stock ECU it ran/idled like crap for about 10 minutes then settled down.

    K that rules that out then (I believe they have different boost levels stock) In limp it will pull timing but it can't hurt to reset the ECU then take it for a quick drive to give it time to relearn before leaning on it!

    It's the single wire sensor on the side of the T Stat housing it has a rectangle plug.
