Don't know anything about the Lucas Product you mentioned!
The bad news is that the damage is done and the bores are glazed (Edges of the Crosshatch Hone marks are smoothed over and it's these that allow the Rings to mate to the Bore during breakin)
Not sure how you're going to jump at...
If they put "Friction Modified" oil in it right away it won't seat the rings full stop!( a good single weight oil with no friction modifiers or viscosity index improvers is a must in the 7M as the cast iron in the block is very hard)
As for pulling the head to repair it in place it's just not...
A big backfire can pop a gasket as you're talking a couple of 100 psi when it happens but under normal boost no way if everything is flat and torqued to spec.
But only rev to 5000 ;)!
It's all a trade off Flow v's Gas speed.
Tight AR great spool low Top end HP
Loose AR Lag but lots of Top end HP
The Exhaust runners follow this to an extent.
Even the Pauters aren't prohibitively expensive once you factor in having the stock rods resized rebushed shot peened and ARP bolts installed!
(All needed for a successful build I think)
Very nice Justin! :)
I went for the Pauter's as the Eagles weren't reality when I ordered but either way the extra insurance and peace of mind are well worth it!
LOL Jeff the Cops here started it all way back in the day when ProStock style Hood scoops were the in thing to have (Look a bit like McDonalds Bin lids to me)
We also weren't allowed to have a rear facing Hood scoop that was open in case of oil on the screen!
I think from memory the...
I know of this test as I used to run a 427 Chev with a Crower mechanical Injector with 8x3" staggered pipes and velocity stacks sticking through the Hood ;) (never actually got defected just pulled over 20+ times in 2 weeks so they could look)(those were the days!)
Justin: LOL old people sayings ;)
(I'm old)
"The commonly told tale about this phrase is that it derives from the acting practice of thrusting one's tongue into your cheek to keep from laughing at an inappropriate moment. There is no evidence to support this story or the idea that the phrase...
Don't know about there Jeff but here the Cops have these little stand things they put on the hood and they have to be visable from the drivers seat, if there's any obstruction you get defected!
(but maybe your post was tongue in cheek)
Justin: The HP you free up is lost in alternator drag running the electric fans.
Don't know if anyone has ever done a real world comparison of both systems running correctly, maybe another one for MythBusters :)!
LMAO @ Mr WaxPaper!!
This is only a rough guess on my part but if the Total Seal rings are a hard material they might not be breaking in on a 7M block as Toyota have used the hardest Cast Iron I've ever come across!
Chrome plated rings suffer the same problems in a hard block!
"Little Johnny" Gee why do the cops keep hassling me they're bastards and pick on all us young guys with Supra's!!
<driving off belching flames and farting from the mk7SpaceShuttle BoV chirping tires on each shift> ..... ;)
