It would be interesting to compare the nozzle sizes between a 1.06 T3 and a 1.06 T04 GT Turbine housing, I can't imagine they'd be any different I believe it's only the flange that's changed.
Yep my .63 GT30R was going positive at 1400.
People get hung up on "Full Spool" but that's only part of the story, As I mentioned before 1 psi on a 35 makes a big difference and around town is usually more than enough to keep ahead of the traffic.
(how many times do you redline in day to day...
The .82 should be cool at stock redline Loki, I went for the loose AR to give it room to breathe up top.
I think from memory there is a 400 rpm difference in spool.
Mine makes 1psi at 2200/2300 and 1 psi on a 3540 is noticable!
Not sure how anal the Mk3 ECU is but most will limp when the 02 is dead or unconnected so maybe pushing it so hard would account for the lean condition that blew the HG?
Wait a bit and someone that knows will jump in and answer.
For me and my combination the 1.06 is perfect I couldn't ask for a better match!
Less mods and I'd go for a .82 and don't think I'd bother with a .63 as I think it would surge like a very surgy thing!
In case anyone's wondering what I mean by 6M and 7M Cranks the early 7M's used a crank that's marked 6M and didn't have Counterweights on all of the throws then in 89 they got the 7M crank that's fully Counterweighted.
Look at #2 and #5 throws!
Top 7M crank Bottom 6M
I had my Header Turbine Housing and Dump pipe Ceramic coated as well as running the Blankie!
2 benefits are it keeps the heat in where it does some good and it keeps the heat in away from everything else in the engine bay that doesn't need to be heated!
Mine's built to spin safely to 8000 so this gives me a nice broad powerband from 3000>8000 and the motor still has good torque and response below 3000 off boost so I'm pretty happy!
I have a Solid centre Ceramic Twinplate in my car now that's a bit of a bitch but eventually you adapt and learn to drive around it!
A good tune helps heaps as you can slip a tiny bit to roll the wheels then let it right out and accelerate without the squealing shuddering jerking mess!
Bit of an update to this thread now I have some time with my 7M crank!
I can state here without a doubt that at 6000 rpm the 7M crank is smoother then the 6M crank.
I'll update as I raise the limit on my motor!
