They're designed to give great drivability if you were single it may be different in a fat Mk3 and this is where the 7M's long stroke torque comes into play.
Overlap is what kills Turbo cars with huge cams as you get to a point where you're blowing the charge straight through the motor and into the manifold and the EGT's go berserk!
