I could understand if there was a performance gain to be had by removing it but to be effective you'd need at least a 5mm hole in the cap and no way known would I be driving a car around like that it's insane!

Buy a JDM plastic cannister and hide it up under the plastic inner guard this way it's safe legal gets rid of the big arse metal cannister.
