They ran one here many years ago and the guys that won used a Holden 2 tonner (think dual axle pickup) they installed a bunch of Boat fuel bladders in the tray and drove non stop.
There's a limit to how much can be removed and you still have a heavy car at the end....

Tape a piece of cardboard cut in a strip the same thickness as the plate rolled up to the Filter and see if you can still get it on/off?
Perceived lagg may actually be less as the car will respond quicker off boost so should move easier.
It's a fine line between Load/mechanical advantage with a heavy car Brent.
I ended up using a Tial BoV with a stiffer spring as a backfire valve on my new intake as I run a Wet system (fuel and Air in the Intake)

Generally they come off easily, I had a motor someone had "fixed" using DevconA it's a Titanium Epoxy.
This motor had suffered a loose balancer and trashed the crank snout so the Genuis had Epoxied the Pullies and Balancer on...... DOH
