^ Ditto as invariably anything I farm out ends up being wrong and having to be redone before I'm happy....
To the point I'm going to purchase a lot of the tooling I need for block machining.
Look at the HP of one of the first turbo 1.5L F1 cars then multiply that by a Top fuel motors capacity and compare output per 1000cc.
(from memory they were getting 1600 out of the 1.5 and around the 3500 mark out of the TF cars back then)
"Reliable" is a very subjective thing Chunks...
Most of the 500+ cars you're talking about see very limited use and not much of that time is at peak power output.
I tend to hammer my car whenever I drive it as that's what it was built for but even so I wouldn't be calling it "reliable"...
J: Once you go under about 25 thou gap the electrode gets a bit Mongy shaped and it's hard to get a consistant gap.
Using the above trick on the dyno got me through the stutters nicely.
J: You can give it 3>4 more degrees of advance on the timing map right around where it's blowing the spark out and this should get you through the peak cylinder pressure stutter.
(once you're back on your feet that is)
Chunks: Sorry that's not "many" that's a few......
There aren't that many people willing to drop the coin on a 7M to make it reliable at those power levels as there are far better alternatives available.
These days people contemplating an engine swap aren't burnt at the stake as Heretics...
For all the guys thinking of slapping a MHG on without surfacing the block here's one for you.
My block was surfaced then Lapped using a large lapping plate and diamond paste, sealed up perfectly until I had an Intake Manifold explosion.
This blew the HKS Stopper between 3 cylinders, when...
Can't see how these are meant to work if they compress the puck and stop at the shoulder on the upper aluminium piece? (would make them a solid mount)
Using a through bolt doesn't allow for independent movement of upper and lower so will transmit the vibrations.
Maybe Chev need to stop making motors Billy Joe Bubba can pull apart in the trailer park and make some with multivalves and DOHC if they want to play with the big boys ;)
I'm talking genuine 500>600 rwhp cars that are driven as is pull in strap on the rollers they lay down the numbers and are driven away without any "adjustments".......
