My welder has been used only a couple of times. I used to to weld flanges to a new cat fro my truck (ugliest welds you've ever seen, but I was trying to pass inspection...

the MKIV guys have no issues running IRS...
get the diff rebuilt properly and you'll be fine. The best think is to get the alingment dialed in and beef up key parts of the suspension...
I agree with spinningheadboy, it looks like a grey interior...
If the paint starts wearing off, I'd replace them with shadow grey parts cause it's close and won't wear like the paint. The rest should be fine.

every racecar I've seen ha had them bolted to the frame...
the harness bar is there to keep the harness on the level with your shoulders, if it's bolted straight down to the frame it will crush yoo in an accident
not sure (as I still have a coilpack cover and not really in the mood to be taking my car apart right now)
also, make sure the plug wires are going to the proper coils...
