Can you change the spring int he wastegate? If so, put a lower one in it and see if the boost comes down a bit.
correction... it's Research Octane No. 91 (Octane Rating 87) or higher. For improved performance they suggest higher. I can take a pic of my owner's manual if you wish.

Took me forever to track down my wiring issue, and it was the IR#2... the TSRM wasn't an help in tracking the issue down, I just grabbed one of everything from a parts car that was part of the headlight circuit and started swapping parts...

Higher octane makes the fuel harder to burn. Higher octane = less power...unless you're turning the boost up to where you can take advantage of the higher detonation threshhold...

More than likely that is air being sucked IN, even so, too much pressure turns the tank into a BOMB.
Gas pumps have evap recovery systems on them, it's also how they know when to automaticly shut off.

Well, not saying I'm putting a pre-cat on my DP as the main is more than enough for our cars (except for cold starts, but who gets their car inspected while it's cold?)
Keep in mind that they design the engines to be sealed from idiots that go to a car wash and hose down their engine.
If it's not worn out (and most are), it will seal that area from said idiots.
