Well, it's safe to say that it's not a GOOD sound. Doesn't sound like rod knock to me though... honestly, it sounds like someone left a socket wrench under the valve covers.
You neglected to mention how much torque you are using on the head gasket. Mk4 is a whole different ballgame, 30psi on a stock Mk4 is nothing like 30 psi on a stock Mk3.
Plugging in the HAC sensor will help if you change altitude a fair bit. It would have to be a fair distance more than ear popping, though. :)
If you have a pre-89, I'd highly suggest it, as it's not much work. If you have the 89+, with the HAC built into the ECU, I'd still suggest it but...

I'll turn it into a proper web doc and get that posted here as well.
The company is Full Throttle Speed.
Hmm.. I was under the impression that the E-brake light comes on when your pads are low, not the antilock light. Wouldn't make much sense to use the antilock light, as not all cars came equipped with the antilock option, and leaving the warning out on cars not so equipped would be a little...

Natan, the SAFC isn't really 'needed', but it is more flexible than the straight MAFT, from what I understand. I've had mine installed for a couple months now...
I'm really hoping the current vendors will venture in here and say what they think. Really though, it's our decision in the end, and as we all know, competition is good for the consumer.
I wouldn't want to go nuts and list 100 vendors, and I'm not really sure where we should limit it.
