It's not going to do ANYTHING to anything in the trans.
It's BRASS, it's a whole lot softer than anything else in the trans, it's not going to do any damage to anything in the trans as it isn't hard enough.
It's like hitting a brick wall with a pillow, you're not going to do jack to it...
Interesting...
Very very interesting...
Definately not something I've seen before. The main cap was modified to fit it, and it's obviously there to strengthen it. Maybe the engine builder had seen breaks in main caps because of the machining for the thrust washers? Really odd...
Why do people think it would harm anything?
Brass is MUCH softer than steel. It's why you use a brass drift to pound bearings out, or use a brass hammer.
It's not going to do jack to anything in the tranny. I would have bought one if I had a way to get my hand on one when I had cash...
Technicly speaking going over the T-stat temperature setting is "overheating."
Are you probably safe? Sure, but it means that if you DO have a really hot day and you're stuck in traffic, up a hill... you don't have any extra compacity to get rid of that heat.
Green truck bushing is still typical OEM mushiness...
Marlin crawler urethane is great.
The Brass is softer than the steel of the shifter, and if well greased (you DID grease your shifter when you replaced the bushing, right?) it will work great.
Congratulations!!! The only other engine that's turbochaged from Toyota that pops headgaskets easier than a 7M!
No, really, I hate you was looking for one of those forever. Bed rust is EXTREMELY common on hilux's, don't sweat it, just build a flatbed for it or you can get a fiberglass...
Clutch pedal adjustment would be my first guess as it's effecting most of the gears.
That, and pop the inspection covers off and make sure everything is alright in there...
But you're old IJ ;)
My car came with an R154 and it's not going to change anytime soon. If I had an auto originally I might have gone the route you have as the tranny controller sounds sweet.
Not true at all.
I know a MKIV in the area that has a cage and he takes his targa off all the time. The bolts are in the same place, and there is plenty of room between the edge of the roof and the bolts.
