Yep, it's basicly a bumpstop to stop the mount from moving far enough to rip itself apart. IIRC it wasn't on all versions either...

Haven't had my car apart THAT many times, but as I had to fix the stupid stuck slides on 3 of the calipers whne I bought the car, I remember fighting with the design.
Personally hate sliding calipers, it's a shitty design and when the system wears it can cause issues...
Because horsepower is a calculation based on torque and RPM, the higher you can rev, the more horsepower you will make (if it will flow enough).
