I see trouble with swapping them out if you didn't chase the threads in the block. Crap in the threads prevents the studs from threading in 100%. Just something to be aware of!
If the engine/trans are out of the car and you're confident in your aligning skillz, you can bolt the clutch disc and PP onto the engine prior to mating the engine and trans. You just need to be careful to get the clutch disc centered. I've done it that way both times I pulled my engine out...
The way they did it here was you showed up and paid an entry fee to get a flag/number. Then you go to the bidding area where they show the cars. Bid, win, drive/tow it away at the end.
They are auctions, and good cars get bid up. $500 is the starting price for most vehicles, though. Father in law bought an 89 Celica for ~800 iirc, started at $1.00 lol
You chasing threads should look something similar to this:
Note that tap in the left hand, and looking to see if all the crap got taken out...
I've just wanted to use that pic since it was taken :P
Yep, got that one! I am just whining about changing the exhaust cam. Any time I change it, the CPS synchro is affected. Need to adjust the cps to zero the sytem back out, which I don't wanna do! I've been looking for close-up pictures of the setup Duane has, but have had poor luck as of yet...
lol, heater works decent, but I really need a bigger garage :P
Fiddling ith the tune s going well so far, found out why it starts so hard when its cold- I was giving it less fuel for startup than I did for any single point on the map doh!! Fixed, now just need to get the CPS timing dialed back...
Well, its a bit further that Rogers, but in my hometown of Nowthen there is a local bar that's pretty freakin big that allows saved tables afaik. About 1/2 hour away from the cities, and about an hour away from Cloud (if it matters)
That is normal.
Poodles/Cyfi- I like to rotate the exhaust cam backwards because I usually don't have the crank pulley reinstalled by then. It does the same thing as rotating the crank clockwise, but I feel it gives me more control over the belt slipping/skipping. :)
FYI- I also use clamps...
Both are true. The timing belt doesn't have a perfect number of teeth to always line up after turning, but you should be able to back it up and have them re-line up (otherwise that means the belt skipped a tooth)
no problem. If you are still having problems I might make a video to describe what I'm doing- this kind of 'turn this way, then that way' instructions can be hard to follow. Good luck though!
