Yeah, I stuck a screwdriver in the inspection ports on the tranny and pry'd on the flywheel and the pressure plate. My clutch and fidanza are newly installed. Like 1k miles...
I'm going for the driveline now. Be back after I take it for a test drive.
I just took out my 91 ds due to a bad carrier bearing and installed my 87 ds which has a new carrier bearing and u-joints; but, it is not lined up like you mentioned. I figured it was because the tard that replaced the carrier bearing didn't take the time to line it up right.
Maybe both of...
New info!
When I grab the driveline where it mounts to the rearend, it has some side-to-side play. This makes sense because when I let my clutch out, I here/feel a little clunk.
Could the rearend be my source of vibrations?
I'm still leaning toward my one motormount being the cause...
Well, here's my concern.
I have a vibration. A significant one. I have switched out drivelines with one that has a new carrier bearing and all new u-joints.
My tires are brand new.
My tranny mount is good.
The vibration is not rpm dependant, or load dependant. Clutch out and...
Ok. As you can see in my sig, I'm trying to make it to PRE for a dyno run tomorrow morning. I just found a busted motor mount on my 91 and need a quick answer. Here's the question:
Will 87 motor mounts fit on my 91 without any modifications?
Thanks...
He He...yeah I guess so. However, if I would've been the one to install the new carrier bearing, it would've been done right the first time. Me fixing it is the second time!!! :D
It'll have to wait until I get back from my Dyno run. I'm already short on time and still have a few...
No problem.
Yep, still heading over. I'm already penciled in over at P.R.E. and it's probably too late to get in elsewhere. Plus, they are close to the Hotel I'll be staying at. :)
Well...whoever replaced the carrier bearing on the 87 didn't line it up right. It was about 1.5 inches out of alignment. I didn't have time to fix it so I just put it in.
Why don't people do things right the first time!?!?!?!?!?!?
Here comes some vibrations...
These are off my 91 (bottom) and 87 (top). Both are Turbo'd.
My 91 carrier bearing is bad and so are two U-Joints. The carrier bearing and U-Joints on my 87 are new so I am going to just switch out drivelines.
Well, as you can see, somewhere in years past one of these got put back...
Mine does the same thing. I'm venting to atmosphere and my only fuel mod is an Aeromotive AFPR. Well, and an FCD if you want to count that...
I have brand new NGK's gapped to spec. I'm at 10 psi and mods are in my sig.
Sorry if it seems I'm trying to thread jack. I'm not, I just...
Call me a safety nut; but, I would pull your fuel line as far away from your alternator connection as possible.
Arcs, sparks, and fuel is NOT a good combo! ;)
Otherwise, it's lookin SUWEEEEET! :)
Think twice about doing a retorque. Depending on the condition of a stock gasket, doing a retorque could induce a BHG.
Toyota did change the Head Bolt Torque spec. Stock ones can be torqued to 70-75 ftlbs. Higher is NOT better!
If you do some thread searching, you'll find LOTS of info...
Welcome Aj!
You'll find that you will come to love this forum just about as much as you'll come to love your Supra.
You won't have the launching capability of the DSM; but, with a little bit of time and money, you'll suprise them from a roll! Maybe I'm partial...but, the Mk3's look waaaay...
If you like that year and color combo, I don't think you can go wrong. You're definitely going to have a project on your hands though.
That ebay 'T4' may not have a long life span so keep that in mind. I don't particularly care for some of the work that has been done on the car; but, I'm...
I'll be there and also PM'd my RSVP. Anyone from Pullman way want to convoy? Last year we had four Supras and we drove over White Pass. It was SWEEEEEEEET!!!!!
I'll try to round up a few other locals to go.
Hopefully Dunckel will be up for another ticket! Eh Dunckel... ;)
