Looks like pitting that was't fully removed from the resurfacing. If it doesn't lay on the gasket surface or sealing ring (lay the head gasket on it and it will be obvious), I'd say it's alright as it doesn't look like much.

I use leather stuff, even on the vinyl! Doesn't leave it glossy or slick, and cleans it. Works good on the rubber stereo surround piece as well. Leather should never be glossy, if it's glossy the pores are clogged and it will crack. They need to be cleaned and treated.

I'm sticking with my shell because most of the stuff that needs fixing is bolt on... That and I really don't want to swap interiors out, and I don't have a place to do such a thing. I'm sure most people know what my car looks like...
