I really doubt you could get the Supra to the Camaro's level for cheaper. Considering it's NEW you'd have to replace any and all wear items in the Supra. You'd have to raise it's power reliably (not going to touch the Camaro's torque). You'd have to add all the features like traction control...
Or it was hit in the wheel by a car to but that load on the upper control arm...

Also, it's because the LED's don't have enough resistance for the circuit so it sees it as a blown bulb, you can modify the box with a different resister IIRC or just get the right box.

Most all radar detectors have a city mode to cut down on false alarms, and from what i remember the Escort can be expanded with a laser jammer (keep in mind they only delay it as once you're close enough it will get a clear enough...
