I've had both as well, and I'd go for the Mk2 given a choice between two cars in equal shape. A Mk2 without serious rust will be hard to find. A clutch job on a Mk2 is a 3 hour job by yourself if you know what you are doing.

Could easily be a boost leak, too. Old couplers leak less when they are cold and stiff, as soon as they heat up they get flexible.

If the fuel filter caught it, why did you suffer any damage? What use is a fuel filter that lets SAND through?

No. They only have an inlet, no outlet... and they are designed for coolant, not oil, so there is a good chance they are not oil friendly.

LOL - there's lots of urban legends about the Supra fuel filter. Toyota mechanic here told me they never get plugged because they were designed with such a weak element that anything just goes through it. :D

In Canada, we didn't get the airbag until later, so all our '89 & '90 cars have the best of both worlds, deep and cupholder. :D

The cup holders only came in later years. You can get a DIN sized cup holder from another model Toyota and put in in the dash, much better. PS: You shouldn't have food in your car anyway!

Errr WTF? Care to provide some evidence for that position? As far as I know, there is no measurable difference. Furthermore, last time I checked welding cable was some of the best in the industry.

As said above, capping it will just blow seals - all over, actually, which would suck. A fellow on here tried that a long time ago, blew his front and rear main seals on the block. I don't think anyone has tried an air compressor filter - aren't those designed to catch water? Oil might be too...
