6.5" speakers in your pre-91 doors

An enclosure is the point of what I'm building, which will make a huge difference in bass response.

Don't try to save missed shifts!

I wonder though if the damage is from trying to "save the missed shift" or from the missed shift itself. Yikes...

    87 gte into 89 n/a

The turbo pressure assembly is for the cruise control. It controls the vacuum pump for the cruise control actuator. You can ignore it, and all that it means is that the cruise control will not allow the car to go into boost. This shoud NOT be needed to get the car to run at all. (I never...

    anyone using synchronic BOV

I've got an HK$ SSQV, and got he recirc fitting to try to quiet it down some. Since it's supposed to be the fin insert that makes the noise, I might leave the recirc fitting alone even if I go MAF.

Re: What do things weigh? See the A70 Weight Index

For one, I won't be ripping the sound deadening out of my car, because it's not a race car for me, and I feel that there are a lot of other places that I'd remove weight from before I went there. To me 1/2 of weight reduction is where you remove the weight from. The higher the location, the...

    Electric Fans 1 or 2

I take issue with broken belts being a fan only issue. In the case of a broken fan belt, your water pump also isn't turning, which makes the fan rather a moot point. No water pump, and the fan isn't going to make a difference. It's not like the cooling system will circulate by convection...

    Bov flutters badly.

TSRM specs 17-21 in Hg as normal, -1 for every 1000ft altitude above sea level. Mine idles at 17, and I'm at about 2500 ft. Fast idle (~950RPM) is 15 in Hg.

    680cc injectors ok?

Yes, too rich, though the TCCS should be able to correct for it in learned mode. Still, at WOT you're going to be really REALLY rich. If you have to deal with smog test at idle, that'll probably fail as well, since idle is open loop. Too much fuel +1

    New Turbo, supporting mods?

Okay, so I was coming at it backwards, but that's basically the second scenario then. Boost goes to both ports, but instead of venting the second port, you just put a limit on pressure to it. Hmmm... The MBC that I have won't do it, since it's designed to be off until a desired pressure is...

    New Turbo, supporting mods?

Okay, here's another question: The wastegate actuator that's on this thing is a dual-port. I gather that the diaphram is between the 2 ports. So, this means that the diaphram should open on a pressure differential between the 2 ports, but which parts of the intake system should be...

    BOV what's the point

I guess then that the question comes into play: Which takes more time/energy? Re-compress less than 1 cubic foot of volume for the IC/piping, or get the turbo spinning again after it's been pushed to a dead halt by surge. The BOV, when open, allows the turbo to keep spinning, because it's...

    15" Wheels on a MA70?

I was looking into this because 15" winter tires are much cheaper. :) They'll clear the rear brakes, but not the front.

    Electric Fans 1 or 2

It's when you're making power that you need cooling the most. If you're making that power at high speed, then you probably don't need to pour as much power into the system, but that's all regulated with a clutch system. The fan clutch's job is to regulate how much power goes to the fan. If...

    oil in exhaust manifold

Well, a valve stem seal could be the cause. A stuck valve could be the cause for zero compression. Excessive oil on the valve (Stem seal) could be the reason for the valve to get stuck, if the oil is coking on the valve seat or face.

    New Turbo, supporting mods?

Right. I have an eBay special 6 puck clutch. Apparently though it turns out that the clutch I have is a stock disc with the ACT pressure plate. I think I'll test both pressure plates when I put that clutch disc in and use whichever one shows more clamp force. So even the fuel pump upgrade...

    New Turbo, supporting mods?

Okay, got a new (used) turbo. Very happy with the deal, but I want to ensure that I'm not going to do anything bad bolting it on. :) It's a Turbonetics bolt-on, internal wastegate, should bolt up to the manifold (with a spacer) and LIPP elbow. Supporting mods (Either installed, or will...

So that crap on the firewall came from the PCV system, or did it come from the manifold vacuum line?

    Stock 7m-gte Vaccum in In/Hg

Just re-checked mine, and according to the gauge, it's closer to 17 lbs at idle, and I'm 2500 ft above sea level, so that's normal according to Supracentral's link. Decel, it about pegs the lower reading of the gauge. A vacuum gauge (particularly one that you just connect in the engine...

key wont come out unless disconnect battery?

There is nothing in the Mk3's electrical system for retaining the key. The key cylinder can be hard to turn because of the steering lock, when there's pressure on the front wheels, but that's usually getting it to come out of the lock position. As long as the key cylinder is in the full...
